The transition can take a toll on the elderly who forgot their relationships built in the home country over the years, and has to start from scratch in their vulnerable years. while globally research has found elderly migrants experiencing isolation and a sense of vacuum in their lives, the intensity is more so amongst South Asian communities who live in closely connected and well-knit families.

This very issue of isolation, was identified by the Founder making the Poisitve Ageing Day programme first of its kind to be started for South Asian communities in New Zealand. From monthly meeting, sessions were held twice a week in Central Auckland initially and subsequently at Manukau. From 2009, regular sessions were held at council leased property at Onehunga followed by a centre in North Shore in 2013.
